Getting around

From the Sagrada Família to Park Güell

Gaudí’s two most visited works are only about 4 km apart, and many visitors see both on the same day. The catch is the hill: Park Güell sits high above the city, and the metro leaves you a steep walk from the entrance.

By metro: the easy part and the hill

From Sagrada Família station, take L5 two stops to Diagonal and change to L3 towards Trinitat Nova. Get off at Lesseps or Vallcarca. According to Park Güell, both are about a 20-minute walk from the park; from Vallcarca there are escalators on Baixada de la Glòria that take some of the climb out of it.

The Park Güell guide explains the entrances, which matter: use the one your ticket and route suit best.

Timing two timed tickets

  • Both sights sell timed tickets online; book the Sagrada Família first and the park at least two hours later.
  • The Sagrada Família has no luggage storage, and Park Güell is uphill: travel light.
  • Doing it the other way round? The same route works in reverse, and the walk down from the park is easier.
  • For more sights in one day, see the Gaudí route by car.

With a car

A car from the basilica to the park saves the change and the climb, which matters with children, older travellers or a hot afternoon. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells private transfers at a fixed price agreed when you book; its booking box is marked on this page. For both sights and more with the same driver, see the Gaudí route.
