Gaudí route with a driver: Sagrada Família, Park Güell and Passeig de Gràcia
The two houses at a glance
| Address | Nearest metro | Train | Buses | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casa Batlló | Passeig de Gràcia 43 | Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3, L4) | Rodalies R2 at Passeig de Gràcia | 7, 22, V15, 24, H10 |
| La Pedrera-Casa Milà | Passeig de Gràcia 92 | Diagonal (L3, L5) | FGC Provença nearby | Same Passeig de Gràcia buses |
The two buildings are on the same avenue, a walk of roughly ten minutes apart along Passeig de Gràcia. Visits to both are ticketed: book on each house’s official website, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, and check opening times there.
By metro and train
For Casa Batlló, the house’s own visitor page points to Passeig de Gràcia station, a few steps away, and notes that Plaça de Catalunya (L1) and Diagonal (L5) are about a 10-minute walk. Rodalies trains on the R2 line also stop at Passeig de Gràcia.
For La Pedrera, the nearest metro is Diagonal, on lines L3 and L5, which comes out at the top of Passeig de Gràcia. The FGC station at Provença is also close. If you plan to visit both houses, start at one end and walk to the other. For fares, see our guide to metro and bus tickets.
By bus
According to Casa Batlló, lines 7, 22 and V15 stop at Passeig de Gràcia–Aragó, line 24 at Passeig de Gràcia–Consell de Cent and the H10 at València–Passeig de Gràcia. The hop-on hop-off tourist buses also stop by the house. Several of these lines continue up the avenue towards La Pedrera; check the stops on the TMB map.
Straight from the airport
If you land with time to spare, Passeig de Gràcia is one of the easiest sights to reach from El Prat. The R2 Nord from Terminal 2 stops at Passeig de Gràcia station without changes. The Aerobús ends at Plaça de Catalunya, about a 10-minute walk from Casa Batlló. By road it is about 14 km, some 20 minutes without traffic. Neither house has a left-luggage service listed on its visitor page, so drop your bags at the hotel first; see Barcelona airport to Plaça de Catalunya for the options in detail.
With a driver: when it makes sense
Passeig de Gràcia itself is easy on foot, but a car with a driver helps when you want to link the houses with Gaudí sights further out, such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, or when you come straight from the airport with luggage. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells this service; its booking box is marked on this page. Our Gaudí route by car covers the three in one morning, and a driver by the hour lets you pick your own stops. The driver drops you on a side street near each house, is not an official guide, and tickets are not included.
Tips for the visit
- Book entry tickets in advance on the official websites, especially at weekends and in summer.
- The pavements of Passeig de Gràcia are wide and busy; keep bags closed and in front of you.
- Look down as well as up: the hexagonal paving slabs on the avenue were designed by Gaudí.
- Next Gaudí stop: how to get to Park Güell.
