Airport

Reus airport to Barcelona

Reus airport, near Tarragona, mainly serves the Costa Daurada, but some travellers land there on their way to Barcelona, a little over 100 km away by road. There is no train at the terminal: here is how the coach, the bus-and-train route and the road compare.

Where Reus airport is

Reus airport (REU) is next to the city of Reus, in the Camp de Tarragona, and a little over 100 km by road from central Barcelona. It is close to Tarragona and to the resorts around PortAventura, which is why many of its passengers never go to Barcelona at all. If Barcelona is your destination, plan the onward journey before you fly.

The coach to Barcelona

According to Aena, a coach line runs from the airport to Barcelona and its departures are adjusted to flight arrivals. Because Reus has fewer flights than El Prat, and many of them are seasonal, check the timetable on the operator’s website, linked from the Aena page, for the day you land.

City bus and train via Reus

Aena also lists city bus line 50, which runs from the airport to Reus city centre and stops at the train station and the bus station. From Reus station, the regional lines R14 and R15 run to Barcelona via Tarragona and stop at Barcelona Sants. Trains are not very frequent, so look up the connection on the Rodalies timetable before you fly.

There is no direct link between the airport and the Camp de Tarragona high-speed station, Aena notes: you would need the city bus to Reus and then another bus.

By road and with a pre-booked transfer

By road the journey is a little over 100 km, mostly on the motorway. A pre-booked transfer is the most direct way to cover it: the driver tracks your flight and meets you in arrivals, so a delay does not cost you a connection, and the price is fixed when you book. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells this service; its booking box is marked on this page. It suits families, groups and anyone landing outside the coach timetable.

Tips for a Reus arrival

  • Check that your flight really lands at Reus (REU) and not at Barcelona-El Prat (BCN).
  • Look up the coach and train times for your exact date: services follow the flights and change with the season.
  • Staying a night on the coast first? See Tarragona and PortAventura.
  • Landing at Girona instead? See Girona airport to Barcelona.
