Getting around

How to get to Tibidabo

Tibidabo is the highest point of the Collserola hills behind Barcelona, crowned by a church and a century-old amusement park. Most ways up depend on whether the park is open that day, so check its calendar before choosing your route.

The funicular: Cuca de Llum

The Cuca de Llum funicular climbs from Plaça del Doctor Andreu to the top in about 4 minutes, with a train at least every 15 minutes, according to Tibidabo. It runs on the days the Amusement Park or the Panoramic Area are open, and it is included in every park ticket; funicular-only tickets are also sold. Detailed timetables are on the park’s funicular page.

To reach Plaça del Doctor Andreu from the city, TMB bus 196 runs from Plaça Kennedy; check its timetable on the TMB map. The historic Tramvia Blau, which used to cover the same stretch, is temporarily out of service, according to TMB.

TibiBus shuttles

On the days the Amusement Park is open, two shuttles run to the Cuca de Llum, both included in the entry ticket. The T2C leaves from Avinguda Tibidabo, next to Plaça Kennedy; the T2B leaves from Vall d’Hebron, next to the metro and the BSM car park. To board, you exchange your booking for wristbands at the Tibidabo shop (T2C) or the car park ticket office (T2B), as the official page explains.

By car

There are two options, according to Tibidabo. The car park at the top, in front of the ticket offices on Camí de Vallvidrera al Tibidabo, should be booked at least 24 hours ahead. The BSM Sant Genís – Vall d’Hebron car park, next to the metro, opens only on park days and is linked to the top by the T2B shuttle; on busy days a space is not guaranteed. The road up is winding, and traffic builds on summer weekends.

With a driver: when it makes sense

On days the park is closed, or when you want to combine Tibidabo with other viewpoints, a car with a driver is the simplest way up and back. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells this service; its booking box is marked on this page. Our viewpoints route by car links Tibidabo with the Bunkers del Carmel and Montjuïc, and with a driver by the hour you choose your own stops and the driver waits at each one. The driver is not an official guide, and park tickets are not included.

Tips for the visit

  • Check the park calendar first: the shuttles and some services only run on open days.
  • It is cooler and windier at the top than in the city; bring a layer, even in spring.
  • Clear mornings give the longest views over the city and the coast.
  • More views from above: Montjuïc and Park Güell.
