Getting around

How to get to Palau Sant Jordi for a concert

Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona’s big indoor arena, sits on the Montjuïc hill next to the Olympic Stadium. Getting there is easy; getting away after a sold-out concert is the part to plan, because the area closes to cars and taxis when the crowd leaves.

After the concert

According to the venue, the exit route off the mountain is one-way and downhill, taxis and private transport services are not allowed into the area after events, and walking down to Plaça Espanya by the escalators takes about 15 minutes. Most events run a shuttle bus to Plaça Espanya.

So the realistic plan for a car home is to walk down to Plaça Espanya first and be collected there, away from the crowd. Agree the exact meeting point in advance.

Driving and parking

Montjuïc is a protected area. The venue says parking is available at the Olympic Stadium but places are limited, recommends arriving early via Carrer del Foc and warns that traffic jams are likely when everyone leaves. When the Palau and the Olympic Stadium host events on the same day, check the venue’s page for access rules before driving.

Arriving in Barcelona for the show

If you are flying in for a concert, plan the hotel first and the arena second: Plaça Espanya and the Sant Antoni and Poble-sec areas are within walking distance of the escalators. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells private transfers from the airport to your hotel at a fixed price agreed when you book; its booking box is marked on this page.
