How to get to Fira Gran Via

Fira Barcelona Gran Via, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, hosts the city’s largest trade fairs and congresses. It sits between the airport and the centre, which makes it one of the easiest venues in Europe to reach by metro, and one of the busiest on opening mornings.

Where it is

Gran Via is one of Fira Barcelona’s two venues; the other, Montjuïc, is by Plaça d’Espanya. Gran Via is on Avinguda Joan Carles I in L’Hospitalet, south-west of the city. Fira Barcelona puts it about 12 km from the airport by the C-31, and the venue has two main entrances, South and North, at opposite ends of a long walkway. Check which entrance your event uses before you set off: it decides which metro station is closest.

Road times are typical and lengthen considerably on the opening days of big events, when traffic around the venue is heavy.

By metro from the airport: L9 Sud

This is the standout connection. Metro L9 Sud runs from Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 directly to two stations at the venue, Fira and Europa|Fira, with no changes. Fira Barcelona describes it as the easiest way from the airport to Gran Via, and TMB runs trains about every 7 minutes.

Two practical notes. The metro ticket from the airport has its own rules: the T-casual and the single ticket are not valid at the airport stations, so buy the Airport ticket or a Hola Barcelona card. And if you are coming back to the airport after the fair, the same line takes you straight there, which is useful for a late-afternoon flight.

From the city centre: FGC trains and metro

From Plaça d’Espanya, the FGC (Catalan government railways) trains towards Llobregat stop at Europa|Fira; Fira Barcelona lists lines L8, S3, S4, S8, S9, R5, R50, R6 and R60. This is often the quickest way from the centre, and Espanya is easy to reach by metro L1 and L3.

By metro, L10 Sud serves Foc station, which Fira says is about a 6-minute walk from the North entrance, and L9 Sud serves Fira and Europa|Fira. Buses H12, V1, 46, 65 and 79 also serve the venue. The metro runs from 5:00 to midnight Monday to Thursday, until 2:00 on Fridays and all night on Saturdays, according to TMB.

By taxi

Gran Via has taxi ranks at the venue. Fares are metered under the AMB rules, and there is a specific supplement for journeys that start at Fira Barcelona Gran Via: €3.30 in 2026. From the airport, the €4.60 airport supplement and the €21 minimum apply instead.

At closing time on busy days, the taxi queue can be long. If you have a meeting or a flight straight after the fair, plan for it or arrange a pick-up in advance.

Pre-booked transfer for exhibitors and delegations

For exhibitors with equipment, delegations arriving together, or anyone with a tight schedule between the airport, the hotel and the stand, a pre-booked transfer avoids the opening-morning queues. The driver meets you in arrivals and takes you to the right entrance, at a price agreed in advance, and companies can get an invoice. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells this service; its booking box is marked on this page. For fairs and congresses, Fira Transfers is QuickPickups’ own site for companies and delegations.

During the largest congresses, traffic restrictions and dedicated drop-off areas may apply around the venue. Your event’s visitor information will explain them; follow it, as it overrides any general guide.

Getting back to the airport after the fair

For many visitors the fair ends with a flight home, so the return matters as much as the arrival. The metro is the most predictable option: L9 Sud from Fira or Europa|Fira runs straight to Aeroport T2 and then Aeroport T1, the end of the line, with no changes. Check which terminal your flight leaves from before you board, because the two airport stations are separate stops, and see T1 vs T2 if you are not sure.

By road the airport is close, but the last afternoon of a large congress is when the taxi queue is longest and the roads around the venue are busiest. If you have a flight to catch, leave earlier than you think you need to, or arrange a pick-up for a set time and place so that you are not dependent on the rank.

Tips for fair days

  • Check which entrance (South or North) and which hall your event uses before choosing a station.
  • Buy metro tickets before the day; machines at the airport and Espanya get busy on opening mornings.
  • Wear comfortable shoes: the walkways between halls are long, and a day at a big fair means many kilometres on foot.
  • If you are part of a team, agree a meeting point outside the hall for the end of the day; phone coverage inside packed halls can be patchy.
  • If you are flying in on the morning of the event, allow extra time: the airport, the metro and the roads all fill up with the same visitors.
  • Staying in the centre? See every option from the airport to the centre for the first leg, and Sants to the airport if you arrive by train.
