The monastery is about 60 minutes from the centre. Leave around 9:30 to beat the crowds and, on weekdays, to be in time for the boys’ choir at 13:00 (on Sundays it sings at 12:00 and on Saturdays it does not sing).

How much time do we need at the top?

Between 2 and 2.5 hours for the basilica, the Black Madonna, the market and a short walk. With the funicular or a hike, an hour more.

Is the rack railway better?

It is a good option if you travel light and are not in a hurry. With children, older travellers or a tight schedule, the car takes you to the top with no changes.
