Know your terminal first
The Port de Barcelona lists seven cruise terminals: A, B, C, D, E and MSC on the Adossat Wharf (Moll Adossat), a long breakwater south of the old town, and WTCB at the World Trade Center on the Moll de Barcelona, next to the bottom of La Rambla. The Adossat terminals are a few kilometres from the city by road and are not designed to be reached on foot; the WTC terminal is a short walk from the Columbus monument.
Your ship’s terminal can change from one call to the next, even for the same ship. Check it on your cruise documents and again a few days before you sail. It matters for this journey because the cruise bus only serves the Adossat terminals, and because the fixed taxi fare described below applies specifically to the Moll Adossat.
The options at a glance
| Option | Where from | Typical time | Changes | Fare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official taxi (fixed T-4 fare) | Taxi ranks at the terminals | 20–30 min | None | €46 flat between the Moll Adossat and the airport, supplements included |
| Private transfer (booked) | Pick-up arranged at your terminal | 20–30 min | None | Fixed price agreed when booking |
| Cruise bus + Aerobús | Adossat terminals → Portal de la Pau, then Plaça d’Espanya or Plaça de Catalunya | 60–90 min | Two (walk or metro between the two buses) | Cruise bus €3.50 one way; Aerobús fare separate |
| Cruise bus + metro | Portal de la Pau → Drassanes (L3) → Zona Universitària → L9 Sud | 75–100 min | Three | Cruise bus plus Airport ticket |
Road times depend heavily on traffic around the port and on how many ships disembark that morning. Public transport times include walking and waiting, and are our estimates.
The official taxi and its fixed port fare
Black-and-yellow taxis serve the cruise terminals, with ranks outside when ships arrive. Between the Moll Adossat and the airport there is a specific flat fare: the AMB sets tariff T-4 at €46 in either direction, with all supplements included. That makes the taxi easy to budget for: the price does not depend on traffic. From the WTC terminal, the normal metered fare applies, with the €4.60 airport supplement.
For a couple or a family of four with ordinary luggage, the taxi rank is a perfectly good option. The weak point is the queue: on mornings when several ships disembark at once, the wait at the rank can be long. Standard taxis carry up to four passengers; vehicles for five to eight exist but are fewer, and carry a supplement under the AMB rules.
Cruise bus and Aerobús: the public transport route
On days when ships are in port, the cruise bus runs between the Adossat terminals and the city end of the port. The Port de Barcelona lists it at €3.50 one way and €5 return. It drops you at Portal de la Pau, by the Columbus monument at the bottom of La Rambla.
From there to the airport you need a second leg. The Aerobús does not stop by the port: its nearest stops are Plaça d’Espanya and Plaça de Catalunya, both a metro ride or a long walk away. Alternatively, take metro L3 from Drassanes to Zona Universitària and change to L9 Sud for the airport, with an Airport ticket. This works if you travel light and have plenty of time, but with two large suitcases each, the changes, stairs and crowds add up quickly.
Private transfer booked in advance
With a pre-booked transfer, the driver knows your terminal and your flight time before you leave the ship, and the price is fixed when you book. QuickPickups, which publishes this guide, sells this service; its booking box is clearly marked on this page. It tends to help most when:
- you are a family or a group and want one vehicle for everyone and the luggage;
- you have several large suitcases, a pushchair or a wheelchair;
- your flight leaves the same morning and you would rather not depend on the length of the taxi queue;
- you are more than four people, so a single standard taxi will not do.
How much time to leave
Cruise lines usually give each passenger a disembarkation time slot. From that slot, add the time to collect your luggage in the terminal, the road journey and the time you need at the airport. As a rough guide:
- Leaving the ship and collecting your bags: 30 to 60 minutes, more on busy mornings.
- The road journey: 20 to 30 minutes, more in morning traffic.
- At the airport: check your airline’s recommendation; international flights and checked bags need more time.
In practice, many passengers find that a flight before about midday is tight. If yours is early, ask the cruise line for an early disembarkation slot and arrange your onward transport for that time. If you have several hours to spare, consider spending them in the city: our cruise port guide covers turnaround day and luggage tips.
Going the other way: airport to the ship
On embarkation day the logic is the same in reverse. A taxi from the airport to the Moll Adossat also uses the €46 T-4 fixed fare. The cruise bus does not start at the airport, so by public transport you would take the Aerobús into the city and then make your way to Portal de la Pau. Arriving at the terminal within the check-in window on your documents is enough; arriving very early usually means waiting.

Booking a private transfer: the usual questions
- Is the price really fixed?
- Yes. You see the full price for the vehicle before you pay, and it does not change with traffic, the route or the time of day.
- What if my flight is late?
- Your flight number is tracked in real time and the pick-up time is adjusted. At the airport you get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing; at the cruise port, 30 minutes.
- How will I find the driver?
- At the airport the driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Your confirmation email has the contact details.
- Can I get child seats?
- Yes, on request when you book, for a small supplement shown before you pay. Tell us the age or weight of each child.
- Can I get an invoice?
- Yes. QUICKPICKUPS S.L. can issue an invoice for your booking, including one made out to your company.
- What if my plans change?
- Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance are free. You can manage the booking from your confirmation email or by writing to [email protected].
